I think that if there was no TV, there would be pro's and con's. I think it would be good because than people might spend more time with each other and spend more time doing things they should be doing, for instance, schoolwork. They might paint the back room or do some house work that they have been putting off. More families might have games nights. They might learn more about each other, each others likes and dislikes, instead of knowing each others favorite TV shows. If there were no TV's, maybe a lot more people could go without glasses and maybe some people wouldn't need to lose weight. Kids might have more imaginations and would play outside more. People would probably be a lot healthier.
But on the other hand TV's can bring people together. Families gather around and watch movies together. Some board games now can be played on your DVD player. You can watch home movies of past events like birthdays, graduations, and weddings. A solider in Iraq can see his family through a web cam, and that requires a TV. We can watch the news on TV. It provides us with a way of knowing how the weather is going, if it's going to be rainy or sunny tomorrow. It can be a very handy tool, especially if you need to distract small children for a period of time. That is what I think of TV.
